A New Lease of Life
John 8:10-12 (CEV) Jesus stood up and asked her, “Where is everyone? Isn’t there anyone left to accuse you?” “No sir,” the woman answered. Then Jesus told her, “I am not going to accuse you either. You may go now, but don’t sin anymore.” Once again Jesus spoke to the people. This time he said, “I am the light for the world! Follow me, and you won’t be walking in the dark. You will have light that gives life.”
John 10:10 (CEV) A thief comes only to rob, kill, and destroy. I come so that everyone would have life, and have it in its fullest.
Jesus gave the woman in our text above a new lease of life by showing her His mercy. She had another opportunity that she felt she would not have again. She had hope. She had joy and she had Jesus. The prodigal son also had a new lease of life because of the great love of His father, Luke 15:14-24. The joyful embrace of his father that he felt might even disown him. A royal apparel and lavish celebration and access with another opportunity to live and fulfil destiny. When you understand the mercy of God that He has shown to you in Christ, you will have a new lease of life every single day of your life.
God’s loving kindness is better than life, Psa. 63:3. God’s anger has been forever turned away from you. Psalms 85:1-3 (CEV) says, “Our Lord, you have blessed your land and made all go well for Jacob’s descendants. You have forgiven the sin and taken away the guilt of your people. Your fierce anger is no longer aimed at us.” Jesus is the Lamb of God that has taken away the sin of the world, John 1:29. The devil has no more evidence to hold against you, Rev. 12:10-11. Jesus nailed them all to His Cross, Col. 2:14. Take a look at what God said in Hosea 14:4-6 (CEV): “Israel, you have rejected me, but my anger is gone; I will heal you and love you without limit. I will be like the dew – then you will blossom like lilies and have roots like a tree. Your branches will spread with the beauty of an olive tree and with the aroma of Lebanon Forest.” Jesus has brought you into a perpetual season of God’s favour and salvation, 2 Cor. 6:4. Proverbs 16:15 (GNB) says, “The king’s favor is like the clouds that bring rain in the springtime – life is there”. Receive God’s mercy and favour and enjoy a new lease of life today and every day of your life.
Thank God for His mercy and favour available to you because of Christ. Declare new opportunities, favours and increase into your life.
