Grow in the Knowledge of Your Completeness in Christ
2 Peter 1:3-4 (NLT) By his divine power, God has given us everything we need for living a godly life. We have received all of this by coming to know him, the one who called us to himself by means of his marvelous glory and excellence. And because of his glory and excellence, he has given us great and precious promises. These are the promises that enable you to share his divine nature and escape the world’s corruption caused by human desires.
Colossians 2:10 And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power.
God has given you everything that you need to live a complete and godly life like Him. In Christ, you have all of God’s fullness. Nothing is missing. You are so full of God that you have the ability to manifest His character and nature. IN the Living Bible, Colossians 2:10a says, “so you have everything when you have Christ, and you are filled with God through your union with Christ…” The New International Version says, “And in Christ you have been brought to fullness…”
Our first text above shows us that God has given us His very great and precious promises so that we can partake of His divine nature and escape the corruption in the world that comes through lusts. The promises of God are already our reality in Christ, 2 Cor. 1:20. It is not in the future that we will partake of God’s divine nature and escape the corruption in the world. We are partakers of God’s nature right now. We have escaped the corruption in the world. It happened when our old life died with Christ (Eph. 2:4-6) and a new being was raised up with Him. This new being is one with Christ, 1 Cor. 6:17. It carries the life and nature of God like Jesus does, Rom. 6:4. This means you have God’s nature of love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control, Gal. 5:22-23. Many times the devil and our flesh will tell us that we do not have these things in us but let God be true and let all else be liars. We walk by faith and in the Spirit and not by sight or our senses. Every time we accept the devil’s lie, we are cheating ourselves from walking in God’s fullness. For every dimension of God’s character you desire to see manifest in your life, start by thanking God that you have that character in you because of Christ.
Thank God for His fullness that you have in Christ Jesus. Declare that you have love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control in you. Rejoice in this truth.
