Stay Connected to God’s Overflowing Grace
John 15:5-7 (NLT) “Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me, you can do nothing. Anyone who does not remain in me is thrown away like a useless branch and withers. Such branches are gathered into a pile to be burned. But if you remain in me and my words remain in you, you may ask for anything you want, and it will be granted!
Galatians 5:4 (GNB) Those of you who try to be put right with God by obeying the Law have cut yourselves off from Christ. You are outside God’s grace.
Two major parts of our first text above are where Jesus tells us that apart from him we can do nothing and where He talks about the importance of His words remaining in us. Until we make Jesus our everything, all that we try to do in life and in God will be absolutely nothing. We will get nowhere. We are complete in Him and we are empty and hollow without Him. Until we realize this, we will not put all our faith and trust in Jesus like we are supposed to. Colossians 2:6-7 (GNB) says, “Since you have accepted Christ Jesus as Lord, live in union with him. Keep your roots deep in him, build your lives on him, and become stronger in your faith, as you were taught. And be filled with thanksgiving.” As believers, our lives need to be continually filled with the joy and thanksgiving of all the wonderful things that we have in Christ. We remain in Jesus by keeping our faith absolutely in Him and in nothing else. This is what makes us fellowship with Him and yield ourselves to Him. Thinking that we can do anything by our efforts alone is what makes us weaken our faith, focus and fellowship with Jesus and it cuts us out of Christ and God’s grace. It is only when we are standing in God’s grace that we have hope of experiencing the glory of God, Rom. 5:2. You must also not allow so many activities to make you cut yourself out of focusing on Jesus and fellowshipping with Him, Luke 10:38-42.
Jesus was specific about the need for His words to remain in us. Our continual exposure to the revelation of Christ stirs up the love, life, anointing and the grace of God in our lives. Apostle Paul said it is the word of His grace that can build you and give you your inheritance, Acts 20:32. The revelation of Christ will make your life as prosperous as a tree planted by the river, Psa. 1:2-3.
Tell God that your faith is absolutely in Jesus and receive an overflow of the life, love, grace and anointing of God’s Spirit into your life now.
