(Let The Holy Ghost Have Preeminence In Your Life)

Pastor Chris

John 4:23 AMPC

“A time will come, however, indeed it is already here, when the true (genuine) worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth (reality); for the Father is seeking just such people as these as His worshipers.”

When you read about King Asa in 2 Chronicles 14-16, you discover that he was a great king who experienced God’s favour when he assumed the throne of Judah. The Lord helped him against his enemies several times, because he (Asa) put Him first. However, the Bible tells us that thirty-nine years into his reign, he became “…diseased in his feet, and his malady was severe; yet in his disease he did not seek the Lord, but the physicians” (2 Chronicles 16:12 KJV). Rather than seek the Lord, Asa resorted to the doctors for help. But they couldn’t help him, and he died of the disease.

King Asa’s story shows that we ought to always put the Lord and the things of the Spirit first. Even in prayer, the Apostle Paul shows us the prime place of the Spirit when he says in 1 Corinthians 14:15: “What is the conclusion then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will also pray with the understanding. I will sing with the spirit, and I will also sing with the understanding.”

Observe that praying in the spirit comes first, but some Christians pray with the understanding first and then pray with the spirit afterwards. Little wonder such people have their lives dominated by natural circumstances because they put their understanding first. Let the Spirit always come first in your life. Make it a principle for yourself to trust the Lord always and seek His help only!
