You can get an app for your device that will get you anywhere with an address. If you wander off the prescribed route, a friendly voice chimes, “Recalculating,” to quickly map a new route. You may have to go through some unexpected parts of town, but you’ll get there. (Eventually.)
Joseph was on the road to a position of power, riding on God’s blessings, but his life kept taking dark detours. Nonetheless, God made sure he’d get where God promised him. Even when he was unjustly thrown into prison.
The Lord was with him; he showed him kindness and granted him favor in the eyes of the prison warden (Genesis 39:21).
Though humans are not always privy to the details of God’s plan, you can trust that those plans are good. How, then, do you respond when you go through the lonely, hopeless times when you feel abandoned? Rest assured, temporary situations do not invalidate God’s promises of a life lived at His side. Your life may take you down roads you wouldn’t choose, but your Father in heaven has promised that you will reach His destination.
Thought for Today: Circumstances may change, but God is unchanging.
