Topic: From Worry to Joy.
Jesus said, “I’ve said these things to you so that you will have peace in me. In the world you have distress. But be encouraged! I have conquered the world.” – John 16:33 (CEB)
During my afternoon walks, I enjoy listening to the bird’s sing, watching the trees sway, and hearing the buzz of activity. However, on this afternoon, the rain poured and my eyes were focused downward on the road. I had never noticed the cracks in the road or the occasional pothole. I felt I needed to watch my every step for fear of stumbling. Then, my neighbour, Mark drove up and rolled down his window. With just a few words from my neighbour, I no longer thought about the obstacles in my path. Instead, my thoughts were of Mark’s kindness.
Sometimes stress and the troubles of life are like the rain, keeping us from looking up and seeing God’s blessings. Instead, we only focus on our problems.
Maybe today we can share a kind word and help someone look up from their difficulties to find joy and peace in God.
Dear God, when we are burdened with the stress of this world, help us to realize that you are the great Comforter. Amen.
